The Value of a Slow Season

Sometimes, Allah slows you down… not to punish you, but to realign you.

You know those seasons when nothing seems to move?

When your ideas don’t flow, your work feels heavy, and your efforts don’t bring results?

It’s easy to panic, to think something’s wrong with you.

The Important of the quiet moment.

Recently, I moved back to Morocco, and my life slowed down immediately. I became unproductive in my work and stopped taking care of my health in terms of training…

Yet I was thriving spiritually, though it wasn’t like that in the beginning. It started during quiet moments of reflection—reflecting on what was happening in my days and the past couple of weeks, linking the dots and trying to understand why certain things occurred during that period.

Once I started having quiet moments, I began to see and understand between the lines.

However, the sad truth is that it’s hard to have these quiet moments in our time. We’re constantly jumping between:

waking up → scrolling → praying quickly → scrolling → working → scrolling → traffic → scrolling → family time → scrolling → sleep

That smartphone you’re holding right now is one of the biggest fitan after the death of our Prophet ﷺ.

It’s like the mini-Dajjal — the mini Antichrist of our time.

That smartphone literally stole our time. Literally!

So, the moment I stopped scrolling or using my phone for unnecessary things, I started to have my own time — my own space to think and reflect.

And SubhanAllah, if you look at the Salaf, scholars, and Prophets, one common thing that made them wise figures, different from average people, was having dedicated time for “alone time.”

• Taking a moment of solitude to clear one’s mind after a busy day.

Write your thoughts!

One thing I emphasise for everyone to do, which also impacted my life, is writing.

The perfect example is this newsletter you’re reading right now. I wrote all of it without using any AI tool. Why?

Because I want to deliver my message in my own way through writing. Even if you try the best ChatGPT prompt or train it, it won’t give you results like yours.

Writing clears your mind, creating space for clarity and deeper thinking.

So, how to take advantage of The Slow Season?

You need to understand

Barakah > Speed

Today’s world glorifies speed — fast growth, fast money, fast results.

But in our deen, Allah ﷻ blesses and puts barakah in things that are done with intention — with a sincere niyyah behind them.

For example:

If you sleep with the intention to wake up for Tahajjud, pray Fajr, and give your body its right — Allah ﷻ will, without a doubt, bless that sleep, even if it’s just for a few hours.

It’s all about your belief.

The more you truly believe in barakah, the stronger its effect becomes.

P.S. If this reflection resonated with you, my Creator Compass was built to help you live and create with the same mindset — growing your brand with intention and barakah, not pressure.

Let’s summarise everything, insha’Allah:

  1. Slow seasons are divine pauses. They’re not setbacks — they’re realignments.

  2. Disconnect to reconnect. Reduce distractions, especially your phone.

  3. Reflect and write. Writing helps you see what your heart has been trying to say.

  4. Move with barakah, not speed. Intention transforms ordinary actions into worship.

The “pause” might just be the chapter that prepares you for your next rise, insha’Allah!
